UMass men’s basketball on Tuesday released its conference schedule for its 49th and final season in the Atlantic 10, beginning with a road conference opener against Saint Joseph’s on Dec. 31.
UMass released its non-conference schedule earlier in September, which includes seven home games, two road games and four neutral site matchups at Mohegan Sun, the MassMutual Center and Nassau Coliseum. UMass plays three power conference foes in West Virginia, Florida State and Arizona State in addition to a game with former A-10 rival Temple.
The Minutemen start the season with an exhibition at Providence on Oct. 26 before officially opening at home on Nov. 4 against New Hampshire.
UMass plays home-and-home sets with Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure, La Salle and George Washington. The Minutemen host Richmond, Davidson, Loyola Chicago, Dayton and Saint Louis and travel to George Mason, Duquesne, Saint Joseph’s, Fordham and VCU.
After the road date at Saint Joseph’s to start the conference slate, Frank Martin’s squad hosts Richmond on Jan, 4 and Dayton on Jan. 8 before traveling to George Mason on Jan. 11 and Fordham on Jan. 15.
On Sunday, Jan. 11 at 2 p.m., the Minutemen host La Salle. The game will be broadcast on USA Network, as with UMass’ return trip on Feb. 9 at 2 p.m.
The Minutemen hang around for a few days to face George Washington on Jan. 22 before making one final bus ride to face Rhode Island as a conference opponent on Jan. 29. They travel to NCAA Tournament darling Duquesne on Feb. 1 and host new-look Saint Louis and Robbie Avila on Feb. 4.
After the La Salle return trip, UMass hosts Davidson and St. Bonaventure on Feb. 12 and 15. The Minutemen close out February with a DMV trip to play VCU on Feb. 19 (broadcast on CBS Sports) and George Washington on Feb. 22.
