Soon history may repeat itself with the images of the brown shirts of 1938, and will the silence of that time be repeated? I will not be silent as our immigrants — lawful or so-called unlawful — are rounded up, broken up, herded, and deported and I will not wait to give voice until the days come, it is sufficient that President-elect Trump has announced that they will!

I am thankful for the example given to us by our town officials reaffirming and giving voice to the town’s commitment to inclusion and sanctuary. In the Catholic faith there are some 25 Bible verses about immigrants — the Word is not silent! Will my hierarchical church be silent, will other faith communities be silent … again?
