High school roundup: Frontier girls roll past Franklin Tech; Holyoke boys sink Longmeadow on buzzer beater

Four players secured double-digit point totals for the Frontier girls basketball team in its 82-28 win against Franklin Tech on Friday.
Skyler Steele (18 points), Jazzy Hayes (13 points), Olivia Machon (11 points) and Whitney Campbell (10 points) led the Redhawks, which remain undefeated at 6-0.
Frontier was particularly lethal from 3-point land, totaling nine 3-pointers. Steele paced the Redhawks with four threes.
Frontier flew out to a 31-5 lead after the first quarter, then kept the pressure on during the second quarter to make it 54-14 at halftime.
Hannah Gilbert had 11 points as Franklin Tech’s top scorer.
“I was very proud of the way they commanded the floor defensively and moved the ball unselfishly on offense,” Redhawks head coach David Machon said via email.
Duggan 32, Gateway 20 — Char Hansen, Elle DeMoss and Addison Green scored four points apiece to lead the Gators in a loss to Duggan on Friday night.
Gateway trailed just 12-10 at halftime.

Holyoke 64, Longmeadow 63 — A buzzer beater on the road from Chauncey Ruiz kept Holyoke undefeated on Friday night.
Trailing 63-62 with 2.8 seconds remaining, Holyoke’s Aden Cabrera in-bounded the ball to Ruiz near the baseline. Ruiz rose up and hit a jumper from just inside the 3-point line, swishing the shot as the buzzer sounded to lift the Purple Knights to a 64-63 victory that helped them remain undefeated at 3-0 on the young season.
Jordan King-Perilli put up 22 points, Ruiz scored 12 points, Calvin Godbolt recorded 11 points and Jacob Andujar chipped in nine points for the Purple Knights.
Hopkins 68, Easthampton 65 — Chace Earle drilled the game-winning 3-pointer with just over 10 seconds remaining, and the Golden Hawks picked up their first win of the season on the road in Easthampton on Friday night.
With the game tied at 65 and 13.8 seconds remaining, Hopkins put together a well-executed sideline out of bounds play. Screens freed up a curling Earle, who caug ht the in-bounds pass, spun and connected for the go-ahead triple. Hopkins survived a missed Easthampton 3 just before the final buzzer to improve to 1-3 on the season.
Hopkins led 33-27 at halftime and 47-41 entering the fourth quarter.
Earle led all scorers with 27 points while Logan Bye had 15 points in the win. Jasper Alvarez led Easthampton with 23 points and Anthony Incampo had 18 points in the loss.
Competing in the Monument Mountain Holiday Tournament on Friday, Frontier scored 68 points with seven wrestlers winning matches.
Jocelyn Antes (120) earned a second place finish following a pair of pins, Konnor James (157) took third after going 4-1, Kaden James (215) took fourth after going 3-2 while Max Hunter (285) and Massimo DiBari (138) both earned fifth.
Zachary Brown (132) earned a win and Thomas Bagdon (106) tied for fifth while Ainsley Southergill (126) took her opponent to the second round for Frontier.
